Dr. Shahman Moishan is a renowned cultural theorist, policy analyst, researcher, playwright, director, dramaturge, and academic from Bangladesh. His multifaceted career bridges the realms of academia, art, and cultural commentary, making him a prominent figure in the Bangladeshi and international cultural landscape.  With a career that bridges scholarship, artistic practice, and policymaking, Dr. Shahman Moishan has become a pivotal figure in theatre, performance studies, and cultural discourse in Bangladesh.

Education and Academic Career

Dr. Moishan earned his Ph.D. from the Shakespeare Institute, University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, specializing in “National, Intercultural, and Transcendental Shakespeare: Translation, Adaptation, and Performance in Bangladesh.” His research reflects his deep engagement with postcolonial intercultural performance and the political dimensions of Shakespearean adaptations in South Asia. He obtained his BA and MA degree with 1st class and 1st position from the then Department of Theatre and Music. Currently He serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Dhaka, one of the most prestigious academic institutions in Bangladesh
